About Andover Junior Judo Club

What is Judo?

Judo is a modern sport for all ages derived from the Japanese martial art of Jujitsu. It involves learning to roll, fall,  trip and  throw opponents and be thrown by them and 'grounndwork' which is a kind of wrestling where the aim is to hold your opponent to the ground on their back.

Why do Judo?

Primarily because it's fun!  It builds  confidence in children and helps them develop physically  It teaches children how to roll and fall and so not hurt themselves when these things happen. It also develops flexibility. strength, agility and stamina and strengthens bones.  It has a well developed etiquette (bowing to opponents and when

We are a small but expanding, friendly club based at Andover Leisure Centre. We are fortunate to have a brilliant, experienced children's judo instructor in Sensei Andy,. The junior club is for ages 6-16 yrs.  There is also a traditional Japanese Jujitsu class for adults that meets directly after the children's club.  We meet only during

The junior club is for ages 6-16 yrs.  There is also a traditional Japanese Jujitsu class for adults that meets directly after the children's club.  We meet only during term times and we have regular gradings so when children are ready they can advance through the different colour belts

The first session is free! In fact you are welcome to come down to watch a session with your child before they try the free taster session) Thereafter annual membership is £10, session fee is £4. Initially loose fitting clothing is fine but when they decide they like it and will be continuing they will want a  judo 'gi' (uniform) availabl

 We are an entirely non-profit organization and all fees go to meeting our costs in hiring the venue 


We meet at Andover Leisure Centre every Wednesday during term time at 7 pm
